An assistant municipal commissioner was transferred on Friday afternoon, after Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed his displeasure over sanitation issues in Mazgaon.
The officer, Ajay Kumar Yadav was the ward officer of E-ward which covers the Mazgaon and Byculla areas.
On Friday afternoon, CM Shinde was in the port area in Mazgaon to attend the launch of Mahendragiri, the seventh ship of project 17-A Frigates.
Besides Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present at the event, along with vice president, Jagdeep Dhankar.

During the visit, the CM expressed his displeasure over the uncleanness and poor hygiene in the dock area to Municipal commissioner and state appointed administrator, Iqbal Singh Chahal.
Following this, Chahal had called for an emergency online meeting of senior civic officials and asked to take the issue of sanitation seriously. Sources said that following this meeting, the transfer orders were issued by Chahal.
“Honourable CM observed that the lanes in Mazgaon, Bandra (East), Kalina, Santacruz were filthy, and garbage remained unattended. Also, the presence of hoarding, illegal banners affected the beautification of the city.,” read the copy of minutes of the online meeting. ENS
